Chaplain’s Message:  At the conclusion of the Memorial Mass for our departed Knights of Columbus members this evening, Father expressed appreciation for the reading of the names of our departed members while at Mass.  In addition, this thought was encapsulated in Father’s homily:  In doing charity work or volunteering, don’t do it for a pat on the back, do it because you feel it is needed and for giving back to the church and community.

Grand Knight Report:

Shawn:  We just had Veteran’s Day. Remembered everyone as a Veteran. How am I going to be remembered? How is my family going to remember me?  As we approach the season of giving, this is something you can impact during the giving season. As Father said, don’t do good deeds for the pat on the back, do it for very intentional personal reasons. Think about investing in the Knights of Columbus life insurance or retirement accounts. Until your family may need the life insurance, the money ($185 million), is helping people around the world. So, as you are taking inventory of your goals, please include Knight of Columbus in your thought process.

District deputy:
Next month:
  • Diocesan meeting on Dec. 9 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Cameron.   Bishop Powers will be speaking. Starting with a core session. Then explaining what just happened.
  • Will be collecting sentiments for seminarians at that meeting. Not sending it to District Deputies meeting the preceding week. Councils can decide how they want to do it.
  • Bring a rosary with you – a question will be asked.  If don’t have it, you will be asked to kick in a couple dollars into a collection and you will be presented with a replacement rosary at that time.
  • Incentives for the council:  if you get 5 new members by Dec. 25, you can get $100 off your per capita. It is retro back to Nov. 1. Only need three more members.
  • Knights of Columbus has reached a milestone: distributed over one million coats for kids.
  • St. Joseph icon will be here last week of April until second week of May – approximately three weeks.
  • Still looking for Badger Bulletins submissions. Councils can send pictures, articles, etc., so they can highlight some of the councils around the state. They also borrow photos from council’s websites.
  • Question regarding receipt of tootsie roll checks. Some councils are asking Mark about the same.  Mark will investigate.
