Our next meeting is Tues May 12 @ 7:00 pm. Officers at 6:00.
We had two knights attend Hudson's 2nd, and 3rd degree on the 18th of April, Matthew Bolten and Ben Haen, please congratulate them the next time you see them.
I would like to thank everyone who helped with the Tootsie Roll drive. I would like to especially thank Jim & Inez Utecht for all the work they did at the KC hall getting everyone organized and counting money on Thursday and Friday, we could not have made it work without their help.
I would also like to recognize John Mortensen who brought in the most money and worked the most the most shifts during the drive. Also I will mention the Knight who brought in the most money on one shift, Matt Geist, who collected just under $300.00.
I really did not think we were going to be very successful this year with our drive, we had a very hard time getting volunteers this year and had many slots going open each day. We did not even have enough Knights to cover all the Wal-Mart slots. We basically only had people at Wal-Mart and Family Fresh, in the past we had people covering 5 separate locations. That being said, I would again like to thank the Knights and their families that collected $4,100.00 to make our Tootsie Roll drive a success.
The state convention was held in Green Bay the last weekend in April, Don Schoenherr and myself attended as delegates for our council. We had several nice surprises related to our council, first we had two kids that participated in our Christmas poster contest place in the State competition. Olivia Naser placed 3rd for grade 4 and Natalie Graham placed 2nd for grade 1. We were presented with the State Family program service award for our work and donation to the Grace Place project. We also had two Knights recognized for their long term service to the KC's, Wilfred Maitrejean for 70 years and John Dean for 50 years, congratulations to both. Our council history book received a Platinum grade for all that we have done the past year.
The same weekend we had several Knights participate in the Loyalty day parade. We had a contingent of Knights on the 4th degree float headed up by brother Al Lingen. The KC float won the MILESTONES AWARD – OPEN TO ALL UNITS PROTRAYING A HISTORICAL EVENT, I am told we will be presented with a very nice trophy.
The council approved a motion to buy a AED machine for St. Mary's school and another one for our KC hall.
We will need some help the 31st of this month, again will be hosting a 5th Sunday after the 9:00 am mass serving doughnuts and coffee.
State Charity Raffle:
A big THANK YOU to everyone who bought or sold tickets this year. Because of you, we were able to surpass our goal by 11 tickets.
Our Council sold 956 tickets. Proceeds will help victims of accident and illness throughout Wisconsin, and will also return about $2000 to our own Council charity fund.
Don Schoenherr was our top ticket seller with 102 tickets sold. Nicely done Don! Thank You also to Charlie Jacoby & Al Nuemann, who sold 79 tickets during our fish fry nights. We couldn't repeat the luck we had last year, with the $50,000 and $1,000 winners in our Council, but we will keep trying!
