September was a very busy month for our council. We hosted the officers’ installation for District 81 and District 88. Approximately 50 officers from the area attended this function followed by a nice meal.
Our council also hosted the KC Diocesan meeting for the Superior diocese. Attendees came from all over the northern part of the state. We also had several state officers, including the State Deputy. Also in attendance were representatives from the KC Supreme council, and the international family of the year, all at our hall!
Our charity Bingo started up again this month. On the 29th we gave away our first progressive jackpot. It reached $1,550.00. We have had many people help out already this year, I would like to thank all of them. Please volunteer if you can, bingo funds many charitable causes for our council.
We had no one volunteer to chair the punt pass and kick or the soccer challenge this year, we did however get a group to help out on a Thursday night and had a very nice turn out of young girls and boys. Thank you to Don Schoenherr, Tony Killian, Doug Mills, Mark Casey, & Jarod Gorka.
This past Sunday our council hosted our 5th Sunday coffee and doughnuts after the 9:00 mass. I would like to thank Terry Palmer, Al Lingen, Ed Zimmerman for their help.
Thanks also need to out to Vince Kaiser for heading up the Marathon it, and to John Jarchow for chairing the Respect for life essay contest.
During our last meeting we voted to buy 2 cases of coats from the Coats for Kids program. I would like everyone to know, the coats have been delivered and will be distributed in the near future in time for the beginning of the cold weather.
We will be having our annual Columbus Day Dinner, I would like to invite anyone interested, in attending on Nov 2. Please let me know so we can get a count for the meal.
First, Second & Third Degrees:
Honorary Status
Please join in congratulating Greg Mountain on reaching Honorary Status in the order. Greg has been a Knight for 41 years, taking all three of his degrees on April 30, 1972. Congratulations Greg!
Raffles
We have applied for new raffle licenses. We would like to conduct a few raffles and meat raffles as fund raisers. If anyone has some ideas or would be interested in chairing this endeavor, please let me know. I think this could be a great way to make some extra money for charity.
Fourth Degree:
The next Western District exemplification will be held at the Marshfield Knights of Columbus Clubhouse on October 26th, 2013.
