April was a very busy month. We finished our State Charity Raffle, distributed Tootsie Rolls, attended the State Convention and brought home the State Programs Service Award in the Council category. The May meeting will be my last meeting as Grand Knight as I will not be in the area in early June. It has been a great pleasure to serve the council in this capacity. I want to thank all of you who have contributed time and energy over the past 2 years to make my time as Grand Knight a very pleasant one. After the meeting I will be providing brats as a way to say thank you to all of you.
I hope that your support will continue with our next Grand Knight in order to keep our council very active and a showcase of our four principles.
Election of Officers:
We will be holding our election of officers at the May meeting, please join in selecting our new leaders.
Brat Feed:
In celebration of the end of my time as Grand Knight I will be providing brats after the meeting. Don’t miss out.
Bowling Teams:
We sent 2 bowling teams to the State Bowling Tourney this year. One of our teams finished Fourth as a Team in the competition. The members are Curt Mitchell, Cory Mitchell, Chad Mitchell, James Mitchell and Kyle Mitchell.
The other team consisted of Terry Donahue, Mark E Casey, Vince Kaiser, Jeff Klinger and Lee Brown, who finished Fourth in the Individual competition. Congratulations to all of you on your fantastic performance.
Congratulations!:
Addie Jo Rosauer was born on April 18. She was 8lb 3oz and 20.25” long. The proud parents are Joe Rosauer and Colleen Stafsholt. Brother Joe McNamara is a proud grandparent and Mark Burgstrom a proud uncle of the new arrival. Congratulations to all!
Degrees:
We sent four candidates to Hudson to advance their Knighthood to the Second and Third Degree. Congratulations to Todd Pastorius, Jake Skramstad, Dave Rewald and Shawn Fox. Brother Pat Becker attended to witness this solemn occasion.
State Charity Raffle and Dues:
On behalf of our Raffle Ticket Chair, Pat Earley I want to thank all of you who purchased or sold tickets for this very worthy cause. Jack & Frank Donahue (grandsons of Pat and Helen Donahue) were drawn as a $500 winner. I'm sure the boys were thankful that Grandma Helen bought that ticket for them! Also our own Council #2845 won $500. Our council purchases 5 tickets annually, and this year we hit it lucky! Thanks to a late surge in ticket sales by the membership, we surpassed our goal this year by 7 tickets, which qualified us for a $100 bonus payment. Our leading ticket salesmen this year were Grand Knight Don Schoenherr (105) Pat Becker (40) and John Mortensen (32). Whether you bought or sold one ticket or 100, you helped those in need in our community and around the state.
State Programs Award:
As I mentioned last month we did bring home the State Service Programs Award in the Council Category. Check it out at the meeting.
Squires Leader:
Our Squires group is alive once again thanks to the efforts of Tony Kilian and Kevin Lorentz. They have had 2 meetings and brought in some new squires. Congratulations!
Keep them in your prayers:
Our brother, Matt Geist had surgery and surgeons believe they have removed all of the cancer. In July he will have to more surgery for repair from the last surgery. He will be undergoing 4 ½ months of chemo and hopes to return to work in the late fall. As one might expect Social Security is still jerking him around and will probably not approve any benefit to him. Keep him in your prayers. Please let me know if you know of any Brother Knights in need of our prayers.
Bingo:
Our Bingo jackpot was won once again on April 26 on the 56th number.
Tootsie Roll Drive:
We had Mother Nature punishing us with winter weather during our Tootsie Roll Drive. I want to thank all of you who donated time and froze during our 3 day drive.
State Convention:
Brothers Pat Becker and Al Lingen represented our council as delegates at the State Convention. We met late into the evening on Friday preparing for Saturday’s meeting.
Birthday Party:
John Flannery Ball is celebrating his 90th birthday at the KC Hall on June 9th from 1-4 pm. Please join in the celebration. John received recognition at the State Convention for 60 years of service to the Knights and is currently our 2nd oldest member.
